New Holistic Yoga Led Classes

Yoga Teacher Amanda Stead is taking a brand new led class aimed at helping students develop a more holistic yoga practice.  The new classes start on Friday Oct 6 2017 and replace the led classes previously scheduled on Wednesday mornings.  Everyone welcome.

New Holistic Yoga Led Classes

You can now learn more about pranayama techniques, chanting of the sutras and develop a familiarity with meditation, with new led classes starting tomorrow morning at 6:30am with long-time Yoga Teacher Amanda Stead.

We are providing these classes to give you the opportunity to cultivate a healthy interest and enthusiasm for classic yoga practices, which can enhance your regular posture and vinyasa practice.

Students of all levels are welcome to the classes, which will include sun salutations, standing postures and ultimately conclude with the pranayama and meditation – expertly guided by Amanda throughout.

Centre Director Greg Cooper says the new classes are a great way to get the most out of all aspects of yoga: “Broadening our practice to incorporate these other limbs of yoga is ultimately necessary for increasing the depth of self awareness required to experience greater fulfilment in life.”

The led classes are two hours’ long, which gives ample time to explore these other limbs of yoga.

Please note that Friday morning’s new classes replace the Wednesday morning led classes which no longer run.

If you would prefer to do your own practice on Fridays; Greg & Tracy Cooper will continue to run the Mysore class next door between 6am and noon.

About Amanda Stead

To many, Amanda is our Centre’s stalwart matriarch, gracing it with her lovely, steady, approachable and knowledgable presence.

Amanda started her Yoga practice over 35 years ago when she worked with Guruji Iyengar. In the late 1990s Amanda met Grandfather of Ashtanga Yoga Guruji Pattabhi Jois, in New Zealand. She subsequently travelled to Mysore to study under Guruji – so Amanda has a huge treasure of knowledge and experience to pass on to her students.

Amanda has the longest association with the Centre of all our teachers, having joined us over 15 years ago. She has introduced countless students to Ashtanga Yoga through our Centre’s Intro courses, which run several times a year.
